Departments of Pathology, Laboratory Medicine and Microbiology are independently governed, but work together closely in their shared missions of patient care, education and research.

Clinically, the Department of Pathology performs diagnostic services based primarily on microscopic examination of cells and tissues, and Laboratory Medicine uses high throughput, automated state-of-the-art equipment to analyze blood and other body fluids for evidence of disease. The samples reach the lab through Pneumatic tubes.

Department of microbiology is equipped with latest automatic machines for culture identification and sensitivity of various bacteria, mycobacterium, viruses and fungi.
